Election to the German Life Sciences Association’s Biology Education Section: an IPN man takes the chair

The 2025 annual general meeting of the German Life Sciences Association’s Biology Education Section (Fachsektion Didaktik der Biologie, FDdB), which took place in Innsbruck in September, saw the election of the IPN’s Prof. Dr. Moritz Krell, deputy head of our Department of Biology Education, as its new chair. Prof. Krell will hold this office for the next two years.

Moritz Krell told us:
“As chair of the FDdB, I will work to raise the profile of biology education in these dynamic times for education policy, and I will seek to emphasize its key role in tackling the challenges facing society.”

Prof. Krell takes on the role after a period of eight years helping lead the FDdB, first as an advisory member (2017-2021), then as vice-chair (2021-2025). His election to chair enables him to continue his work in the FDdB while creating new foci in research, teaching and public debate.
