Mathematics Education
The Department of Mathematics Education was established at the IPN in 2008 and expanded in the years that followed. The staff members’ research includes the analysis of conditions, processes and results of mathematical education. Individual and instructional factors are primarily examined to describe empirically validated models of the development of mathematical competence and to derive concepts for learning environments.
Although the focus of the research is on the age range of primary and secondary education, the preschool phase and tertiary education are also taken into consideration.
