The Human Resources team serves as the main contact point for all IPN employees and manages the institute's HR processes. It oversees the entire employee lifecycle—from recruiting, supporting employees during their tenure, to offboarding. Additionally, the team handles administrative HR tasks such as payroll and coordinates health, safety, and fire protection efforts. It also ensures adherence to labor and social security laws.
The Finance and Budget Management and Monitoring Group oversees the economic and financial processes of the IPN. It lays the foundation for reliable planning and the successful execution of scientific projects. Its responsibilities include business travel, procurement, accounting, and inventory management. The group supports third-party funded projects through all phases—from application and budgeting to fund management and final accounting.
The Site Management Group is responsible for the safe, functional, and sustainable operation of the IPN's buildings and technical infrastructure. It manages the properties, coordinates relocations, and oversees the vehicle fleet, mailroom, and materials warehouse. By doing so, it creates the spatial and technical conditions needed for the institute's smooth operation.
With the claim Open.Data.Knowledge, the Research Information | Research Data | Library group supports both scientists and the public by offering expert advice, infrastructure, and practical assistance. Its services range from data management and information services to Open Science and Open Access, aiming to make research results transparent, visible, and sustainably accessible.
The Information Technology group provides the digital backbone of the IPN. We ensure that all employees can work efficiently and securely. Our services include smooth IT operations, strict implementation of IT security, and specialized interface development and research programming for projects.
We support staff with AI training and actively promote technical and administrative exchange across locations. Our portfolio is strengthened by the IPN’s in-house workshop, which offers expertise in prototyping, experimental setups, and small equipment repairs.
The IPN’s media and communications unit supports the Institute’s work by engaging with general and specific external audiences, managing the Institute’s communications, and serving as a link between the IPN’s scientific work and wider society. Its remit covers the three closely interlinked fields of communications, communication design, and event management.
The Project Management Office (PMO) supports IPN’s researchers and service units in planning and executing projects. Its work focuses on a service-oriented approach tailored to specific needs and aimed at enabling practical solutions. The PMO provides personalized guidance on project organization, processes, and collaboration, offers suitable tools and templates, and helps establish transparency around tasks, timelines, and responsibilities. It empowers teams to develop effective ways of working and to reliably advance their projects.
