Fracking is an acronym for "hydraulic fracturing" and means the break-up of underground rocks by water, sand and chemicals for production of oil and gas. Basic knowledge can be developed by a model experiment to make operations understandable that are discussed intensively in society. A challenge connects the subject with the International Chemistry Olympiad and encourages learners to participate.
