Physics language skills are part of German Educational Standards. Within the evaluation of the German Educational Standards, physics language skills are not assessed as a specific skill so far. Either in research on communication as science competence or concerning test-validity in science assessments, there is evidence, that scientific language might be considered as important skill besides scientific knowledge and general language skills. Thus, in this study we take a closer look at the interdependence of scientific language, scientific knowledge and general language. The presented results give a hint that physics knowledge, physics term-understanding (as part of scientific language) and general reading ability might be three skills.
