The paper reports on the SINUS program, a long-term professional development initiative designed under the perspeective of situated learning and implemented on a large scale. The focus was on mathematics and science teaching. From 2004 until 2013, 870 elementary schools and 5,500 teachers were involved. The paper retraces the aims and reports on preliminary results of the evaluation.
