How can you recycle gold from electronic scrap and make colorful gold nanoparticles from it? We describe a method that works with two old memory modules and 20 drops of aqua regia. In the end, you get a few milligrams of gold acid, which can be used to produce gold nanoparticles. To prepare for this model experiment or to bridge the exposure time until peeling off the gold touch off the board, socio-politically relevant facts about precious metal recycling can be worked out.
