Teachers´ professional knowledge represents a crucial factor concerning the quality of lessons and students´ performance. Besides curricular and didactical contents, professional knowledge also consists of pedagogical-psychological knowledge. Research has so far focused on curricular and didactical knowledge, with few studies dedicated to the pedagogical-psychological knowledge of teachers. Considering existing studies and standards for teacher education, the present work - stemming from the KiL project (Measuring professional competencies in mathematical and natural-scientific teacher education) - postulates ten facets of pedagogical-psychological knowledge for teacher students and constructs a performance test. An item pool for the ten facets was generated and a pilot study (N = 1276) was implemented in twelve universities in Germany. Seven scales indicate sufficient reliability and validity.
