Chemistry kits are designed to allow students to discover scientific principles on their own. This requires experimental tasks that guide students through the inquiry process in a non-recipe-like fashion. This manuscript describes a school project during which 12th and 13th graders investigated chemistry kits and the contained experimental tasks with respect to these demands. [Editor]
