Science communication has developed rapidly in recent decades and has become an essential part of our knowledge-based society. Research institutions as well as individual researchers are dedicated to societal effective presentation of research results by using a wide range of communication formats: from print products, movies and web sites, blogs and social media, to public lectures and exhibitions. To make this exciting thematic area accessible to students, a science camp “science and science communication” was designed and tested. In the first part of the camp, the participants get to know science in a self-directed research project. After a workshop on science communication, they develop their own communication concept to present their “research results” in the second part of the camp.
