December 13th, 2021

The Standing Scientific Commission of the Standing Conference of the Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs of the Länder in the Federal Republic of Germany (SWK) has adopted its first work program for 2022. The focus is on elementary school and digitization.

Today, the Standing Scientific Commission of the Standing Conference of the Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs of the Länder in the Federal Republic of Germany (KMK), presented its work program for 2022 in collaboration with the President of the KMK. The focus of its work will be on "Prospects for Elementary Schools in 2030" and "Education and Teaching during the Digital Transformation." The panel of 16 education researchers will present expert reports on both topics with recommendations for action on implementation and financial viability. The commission is chaired by Prof. Dr. Olaf Köller, Executive Scientific Director of the Leibniz Institute for Science and Mathematics Education (IPN), and Prof. Dr. Felicitas Thiel from the Freie Universität Berlin.

In the future the work program will be valid for two years. Proposals for topics can come from both the Commission and the Standing Conference of the Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs. The Standing Conference of the Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs discusses the work program at its meetings. This year, the Commission has already presented two statements with recommendations on the implementation of the federal government's action program "Catching up with Corona for children and adolescents" and on the "Further development of the KMK strategy Education in the digital world".
