Conference of the EARLI Special Interest Group 2 "Comprehension of Text and Graphics" in Kiel, August 29-31, 2022.

Digital learning and teaching offers almost unlimited possibilities with regard to the potential presentation of content with texts and visualizations. To give some examples, educational materials can be presented as written or spoken text, as a combination of texts with images, as texts with hyperlinks, in the form of animations, simulations, and/or videos. In addition, the integration of interactive content, dynamic features and multimedia games further extends the possibilities of digital learning and testing. All of this offers teachers and learners many advantages - but also challenges them in various ways. Against this background, this year's conference of the EARLI Special Interest Group 2 (SIG 2) will take place in Kiel from August 29 to 31, 2022, with the theme "Text and Graphics Comprehension in a Digital World: Potential and Challenges". At the conference, hosted by the IPN, international researchers will exchange the latest results in the field of research on text and graphics comprehension in the context of digitization.

The organizers of the 2022 SIG 2 conference, Dr. Marlit Annalena Lindner (IPN, SIG 2 coordinator, conference chair) and Dr. Marie-Christin Krebs (University of Giessen, SIG 2 JURE coordinator), are pleased that so many colleagues will find their way to Kiel: "The attendees can expect a multi-faceted conference program with many excellent presentations, distinguished keynote speakers, and plenty of room for exchange and inspiring discussions." The conference speakers come from Germany, Spain, Italy, France, Norway, Finland, Cyprus, Czech Republic, the Netherlands, Switzerland and the USA.

The European Association for Research on Learning and Instruction (EARLI), is one of the world's most important scientific associations in the field of educational research. The aim of EARLI is to promote international and interdisciplinary cooperation and promotes 27 Special Interest Groups, with the SIG 2 "Text and Graphics Comprehension" being one of them. The SIGs facilitate a particularly intensive scientific exchange among researchers with similar research interests and topics. The EARLI SIG conferences alternate with the biennial EARLI main conference in the European region.
